Slim Jim is missed each and every day. When we rescued him, he came to us with ribs and back bone showing. He was an Amish workhorse with a bowel issue that sent him to a kill lot.
For 20 years he served faithfully and the lot was his fate. After months of a refeeding program here, he put on a few hundred pounds and looked like a different horse.
Unfortunately, we laid our sweet boy to rest after just 6 months. He had a lot of sand in his intestines. The surgery was extremely costly with a very low success rate. It was heartbreaking to say the very least. He was a dear old soul - gentle and kind.
We are thankful for the time that we had with him. His final days were full of love and care and that is truly what he deserved.
